The purpose of this work is to better inform the public on the subject of electromagnetic fields, predominantly at low frequencies, to present systematic ongoing electromagnetic field measurements undertaken by our team throughout Cyprus and to finally provide a platform where the public can voice their concerns regarding possible exposure to electromagnetic fields.

The EMF Map project is a collaboration, between the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (E.A.C.) and the Electromagnetic Field Measurements and Applications  Lab, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Cyprus (UCY), aiming to provide high quality EMF investigations and measurements, especially for the public concerned about the EMF levels at their property.

Electromagnetic field measurements will be presented around the vicinity of distribution and transmission substations located in residential areas, and overhead and underground power lines. The measurements are taken inside and outside of the substations and around overhead and underground power lines through the employment of the mesh measurement method. Additionally, measurements are taken inside offices, apartment bedrooms and other places located in close proximity to the high voltage assets, providing a clear and accurate picture of the distribution of the fields.
